Some people call it "crowfoot", kind of an elongated very thin herringbone. I'd like also to find multicolored purfling lines, like BROWN/WHITE/BROWN or RED/BROWN/RED etc., this kind of thing. I can't find either in any of the usual catalogues. I could try to make it I suppose, but I don't really know how, one would need a very thin kerf table-saw blade, no? ![]() |

There was a thread on MIMF a while back about how to make your own purfling that had kind of a wheat pattern. Might be able to modify that and get close to the effect you are looking for. It may be in the library, I'd try searching that first. |

Also try Karin Rost - you'll need to get a user name and password to see their full collection (free). They've got the widest selection of purfling I've ever seen (including the stuff Sobell uses - I believe it's S-133). |
You may also want to talk to the folks at www.gurianinstruments.com/index.php">Gurian Instruments
Thank you Mark, but they have a minimum quantity order that is quite huge for me. They require you buy the entire sheet of whatever it is that's needed to make your special purfling, that could translate into 70 pieces, way too much for me. Unless others here are interested in doing a group buy. |
